Cards have to be un-staged in reverse order from how they were played.   

You can drag your cards back to your hand (if you played from your hand) or back to their original location (if you moved them to a different location).

You can also click the energy orb at the bottom-middle of the screen and Undo All Actions you took in the turn.  This is especially helpful if you performed multiple actions in the same turn.
